Message 6: The Book of Nehemiah – Chapter 6

Revision:
1.    Chapter 1: Nehemiah’s concern and prayer. Learn to pray rightly.

1. Opposition by Trickery to Compromise (6:1-4)

 

(a)  Trick was “Come, let us meet together…” (v.2)

(b)  Response by Nehemiah (v.3) – what work are you doing for God? Has it stopped?

(c)  Temptation to compromise never stops (v.4) 

2. Opposition by Slander (6:5-9) 

(a) Note the 3 public slanders against Nehemiah (v.5-7)

(b) Response by Nehemiah (v.8-9) – Pray and let God be the Judge!

3. Opposition by Betrayer (6:10-14) 

(a)  Spies sent to bring fear to Nehemiah to hide himself (v.10)

(b)  Response by Nehemiah (v.11-14) – Pray and be strong and courageous! 

4. Completion of the Wall (6:15-16) 

(a)  Despite tremendous oppositions, the wall was completed in 52 days. Why? (v.16) 

5. Blood is thicker than Truth (6:17-19) 

(a)     Family ties with the enemy of God (v.17-18)

(b)     What will make you sell the truth? Read Prov.23:23a

Memory Verse: Nehemiah 6:3 “I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?”
