Message 6: A False Witness That Speaketh Lies

“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, a false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6: 16-19

1. False Witnesses

(a)  False witnesses against Naboth for his vineyard (1 Kings 21:1-14)

(b)  False witnesses testified in the trial of Jesus Christ (Matt 26:60) & the resurrection of Jesus Christ (Matt 28:12-13)

(c)  Which commandment is “Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbours”? Read Prov 19:9 of breaking this commandment.

     

2. Beware of being false witnesses

(a)  Before Men

-       in court (want to protect loved ones)

-       in conversation (gossip and backbite) Prov 25:18

(b)  Before God

-       teach God’s Word wrongly

-       our life drives people away from Christ 

3. Satan – His false witness will deceive the whole world in the end times (Rev 12:9)

(a)  Counterfeit Trinity.- Dragon, Antichrist and the False Prophet

(b)  Satan as angel of light to deceive Christians (2 Cor 11:14)
