Worldly or Warrior?

During the combine youth conference, Brother Joseph Phoon spoke to us during the morning devotion. Below are some lessons i have learned that i would like to share with you all (:

2 Tim 2:4 "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."

As christians, we are constantly being targeted by satan. Thus, we need to be vigilant and constantly on a look out of what satan has plotted for us. Are we living as though there is a battle going on? Are we oblivious to what is happening?

For example, satan might have plotted a friend constantly influence you in the wrong manner. This friend might be always cursing God and doing bad. Are we on a watch out for such friends? May we be always vigilant!

In our daily lives, there is a battle going on always. Are we living as though we are soldiers for Christ? We have to constantly battle inwardly to choose between the world and Christ. We need to be readily equipped to fight the battle victoriously!

Preacher Joseph also pointed out whether we will be ready to give up worldly stuffs to follow Christ. Are we ready? Or have we been still entangled in the worldly affairs to give them up? We cannot sink our roots into this world. We cannot be so caught up in worldly affairs that we can't move on when Christ calls.

Thus, we have to be ready and vigilant! Don't be entangled in this world! Learn to give up things that causes strain to our relationship with Christ. So that when satan tempts us, we will win the battle and be warriors for Christ! Jiayou people!

I'll end this post with the theme song: Yield not to temptation.

Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin;
Each vict’ry will help you some other to win;
Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Refrain:
Ask the Savior to help you,
Comfort, strengthen, and keep you;
He is willing to aid you,
He will carry you through.

Shun evil companions, bad language disdain,
God’s name hold in rev’rence, nor take it in vain;
Be thoughtful and earnest, kindhearted and true;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown,
Through faith we will conquer, though often cast down;
He who is our Savior, our strength will renew;
Look ever to Jesus, He’ll carry you through.

Hopefully, we will overcome the temptations satan puts in our way! Pray always!

-Rachel
