CAUSE to be on the Lord's side (v25): Although the Israelites saw the Lord's provisions daily, they wanted to make more gods when Moses went up to Mount Sinai for a long time. Their actions were deliberated and they openly rebelled against God. There is a cause to stand up for the Lord.
CALL to be on the Lord's side (v26): Out of the whole Israelites who were called to join the cause, only the tribe of Levi come up. Many churches will see the need to stand up for Christ, but how many will actually contend for the faith and go against false doctrines? It is one thing to see the cause, and another thing to align ourselves to it.
CONSEQUENCE to be on the Lord's side (v27): It will not be a bed of roses being on the Lord's side. The tribe of Levi had to kill their own brother and companion. It may be agony, but the Lord will bless those standing on His side, the Lord will honour those who honour Him. Blessings may not be material, but victory is already ours and one day we will meet Jesus in Heaven.
Joshua's generation served the Lord, but the generation after his became worldly and turned away from God. Will we be faithful people standing on the Lord's side consistently, fighting for the Lord despite the agony? We may be on the Lord's side now, but it does not mean we will continue to be on His side. As Ebenezer, we will be the next generation of Christians in our church. Will we still be on the Lord's side years later?
Remember to invite your friends for gospel meeting, youth camp, and the BBQ on friday during youth camp! :)
