A summary on Acts

Thank God for me to be able to finish my first book of the bible, looking back, it was indeed a good experience reading through the book holistically and learnt many spiritual lessons from it.

I still remember the first attempt to read through a book in the bible is when I am still in Sunday School, I had intended to read through Hebrews. I completed the book but I could not understand much, partly due to my poor command of English then and also the lack of proper English biblical instruction.

At that time, the church I attended, Zion Presbyterian Church is primarily a Chinese church (it is in the Chinese synod of Presbyterian Church) and the focus is mainly on key principles of a Christian life rather than understanding of the bible, hence, I can't read the English bible at ease. Thank God for me being able to find good instruction of the bible at Tabernacle BPC and also for me to have a good study bible in the form of Zondervan KJV Study Bible with excellent chapter summaries as well as comprehensive study notes and charts. The bible is especially useful in Acts with every missionary journey outlined in the appropriate juncture of the book as well as a timeline of Paul life which ties Acts and his epistles well.

The entire Acts is a book written to edify Christians and to give us strength in the face of persecution in Christ. In the earlier parts of the book, it is written in Hebrew and Aramaic and the struggles of the early church (after Pentecost) is being outlined and their champions (such as Stephen) who resisted the Jews which led to them obtain the Crown of martyr (Can I? Will I be willing? These are questions that are raised). The second part of the book is about Paul conversion on the road to Damascus from Saul and his missionary trips. In the process, it encouraged me strongly as Paul is so strong in the faith, unwavering even in times of adversary (such as his prosecutions in Antioch as well as Inconium not forgetting the benign, subtle one in Lystra which we may be lured unaware). The entire book is really well written by God divine inspiration of the writer Luke, who is a physician who had a good command of Aramaic, Hebrew as well as Greek.

Thank God and for allowing me to proceed to Romans well. :)
